Pre-Season Programs - Term 4 and Term 1

Objective: Prepare athletes for the upcoming season by building a solid foundation in strength, conditioning, and skills, while also focusing on competitive strategies and overall functional movement and mobility.

Program Components

Strength & Conditioning:

    • Strength Training: Focus on age-appropriate movements to build overall strength.
    • Conditioning: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) and endurance workouts to improve cardiovascular fitness.

 

Competitive & Fundamental Strategies:

    • Tactical Drills: Simulated game scenarios to develop strategic thinking and decision-making.
    • Fundamental Skills: Emphasis on basic skills (catch-pass, tackle tech, kicking) to ensure a strong foundation.

       

Skill Drills:

    • Position-Specific Drills: Tailored exercises to enhance skills relevant to each player’s position.
    • Technical Drills: Focus on improving technique and precision in various sports-specific movements.

Games:

    • Scrimmages: Regular practice games to apply skills and strategies in a competitive setting.
    • Team-Building Activities: Fun games and exercises to build team cohesion and communication.

 

Speed & Agility:

    • Agility Drills: pole drills, cone drills, and shuttle runs to improve quickness and change of direction.
    • Speed Work: Sprint intervals and resistance training to enhance overall speed.

 

Stability and Mobility:

    • Stability Exercises: Pre-workout routines to increase stability and reduce injury risk.
    • Mobility Exercises: Focus on joint mobility and muscle flexibility through resistance bands and functional movements.
